HARVARD SQUARE EYE CARE - A Press Release for Cambridge-based eyewear designer

Discount Designer Frames Launches Most Comprehensive,
Cost-Effective Online Service

(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) Discount Designer Frames, Inc., a virtual, online warehouse for eyeglass frames, recently launched its website, which provides the most comprehensive selection of eyeglass frames at the most competitive prices of any online eye frame service in the United States.

According to company spokesperson, Susan Sawyer, online frame services are the way of the future in the eye-wear marketplace.

“Our goal is to avoid high overhead costs and pass the savings on to the customer. But just as importantly we offer the convenience of shopping virtually, as well as the widest selection of the most popular, high quality, fashion-forward eyewear on the market today. . In fact, that’s what sets us apart from other online services: most other sites don’t carry the high-end brand names and unique selection that we have,” says Sawyer.

A Virtual Store Means Significant Savings for the Customer

Sawyer explains that because Discount Designer Frames exists online, it is able to avoid the high overhead costs associated with a “bricks and mortar” business; for example, the cost of displaying the frames and staffing the storefront, as well as the many hidden costs associated with stocking a broad inventory of frames. In addition, by providing their product online, Discount Designer Frames is able to offer their customers an almost limitless selection from which to choose, including popular European and Japanese designers like Kyoto, Mena, Waza, Beausoleil, Kio Yamato, T2, Bolle, Gucci, Alain Mikli, Vera Wang, and Silhouette, as well as American designers such as LA Eyeworks, Oakely, Modo, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein.

Sawyer adds that for the customer who wants to see the frames “up close and personal,” Discount Designer Frames will ship samples that can be tried on in the comfort of the customer’s own home and returned, if necessary, at no extra cost.

A User Friendly Web Site and Customer Service You Can Depend On

In addition, Sawyer says the Discount Designer Frames website is extremely user friendly and simplistic to navigate and promises very realistic, high-resolution photographs with true-to-life colors, for the most accurate depiction of the frame wear.

Discount Designer Frames stands behind its customer service, which it says is the best in the business. Sawyer promises around the clock availability, quick response to customer orders, and a fast turnaround on delivery. Any customer questions or concerns can be addressed via telephone or email.

Discount Designer Frames accepts all major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover, and provides secure online purchasing. Standard shipping is free and insured on all orders within the United States, and express shipping is available for a nominal fee. Virtual store hours are 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide the ultimate in shopping convenience for busy consumers.

“We are committed to making your shopping experience with Discount Designer Frames the best, most convenient, most cost effective, and easiest online experience available. Our motto is exceptional service at the best price,” adds Sawyer.

LOCAL RETAIL STORE - NEWS RELEASE

New Retail Store To Spruce Up Newtonville Block

Kids on catwalks. Sound like something out of the New York fashion world? Not quite. It’s actually an event that’s happening right here in Newton and just the next step in a growing retail venture courtesy of Brussels Sprout Kids and Newton native, Molly Gasnick Moncrieff.

To celebrate the opening of her new storefront at 855 Washington St. in Newtonville, Moncreiff thought it would be fun to have local kids (and non-professional models) participate in a fashion show event. The accent is on non-professional, as in “no experience necessary.” In fact, Moncreiff is quick to add that these ‘models’ should definitely be amateurs

Although the store officially opens on December 1, the grand opening celebration will be held at the new location Thursday, December 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m., and the fashion show scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The new, 1,000-foot retail space incorporates four former retail spaces on the corner of Washington Street and Bailey Place in Newtonville, and will include plenty of room to display clothing, accessories, baby and layette gifts, as well as a 150-square-foot play area for smaller customers. In addition, Moncreiff plans to hold monthly craft activities for kids, facilitated by a local art teacher, as well as periodic events for moms.

“Our new space will be very kid-friendly. If moms need to bring their strollers in and soothe a fussy child with a snack, that’s ok. This store is really just an extension of the Brussels Sprouts philosophy that the shopping experience should be fun and easy for moms, as well as their kids.”

The new retail space is also one of the first on its block to do a full-scale restoration of an historic building. Restoring the original tin ceilings, hardwood floors, and beadboard wainscoting are just some of the steps taken by Moncreiff to spruce up the location.

The fashion show event will include giveaways for parents and kids, as well as hors d’oeuvres and snacks, and storewide discounts. But, make no mistake, although the celebration will certainly be fun-filled, the fashion show will be the real deal. To that end, Moncrieff has enlisted the help of a professional fashion consultant who will measure the kids (boys and girls, sized 2 through 10 are welcome), hold a dry run the day before the event, and conduct the show just as the professionals do.

As always the Brussels Sprouts mantra remains the same: a lot of style for a lot less money. “Brussels Sprouts was founded on the idea that beautiful, European style children’s wear --- bright, colorful, funky, detailed ¾ shouldn’t cost a small fortune. Our clothing comes in an array of uncommon colors combined with unique details such as appliqué and embroidery,” says Moncreiff. The merchandise --- there are 15 lines in all, from newborn to size 10 -- comes from Europe, as well as from Canadian and U.S. designers who exhibit similar attention to detail without an expensive price tag.

Although Brussels Sprouts began as a trunk show venue, Moncreiff says she expanded the retail aspect because her customers demanded it. “Moms loved our merchandise and the trunk shows but they really needed to be able to shop when they had an hour here and there in their hectic schedules. They asked for a Brussels Sprouts store, so we’re giving it to them.” Moncreiff adds that she gets phone calls from across the country  North Carolina, Alabama, Vermont, Oregon  for Brussels Sprouts trunk shows. To meet their needs, the next step will be an online shopping venue.

Parents interested in having their kids participate in the fashion show event should contact Moncrieff before December 1, at 617- 244-9832, or stop by the current retail store at 865 Washington Street for more information.
